Hello to all! I am so glad we found this website - thank you all in advance for the info we will gather from here.
A couple that we are friends with were camping during Hurricane Helene, a tree fell in them. It took over 5 hours for the emergency people to get to them and to get them out. The husband (Tom) passed away from the crush injuries he received when the weight was lifted off of him. The wife (Patti) suffered many injuries and was not expected to live, but she has recovered and is doing well. Tom had a still that was his pride and joy. I did not know about the still. A few months ago I was chatting with Patti and happened to mention that my husband wanted a still. She got very excited and offered to give Tom's still to us. She said that it was so special to Tom that she wouldn't be able to sell it but wanted to give it to my husband (Charlie) because Tom would like that. We waited for his birthday which was Friday and gave it to him. He is very happy with his gift.
The still is a 30L North Stills with a stainless pot. Tom also had a lot of accessories and all of his notes and recipes.
We both love to cook and are so looking forward to learning the distillation process.
We will be reading here for a while then hopefully will be able to give Tom's still a try.
Thank you all so for much for everything here!
Sue
