red juniper berries

Post by horozkentli91 »

As an amateur home distiller who has been brewing my own liquor for many years, I'm very eager to try making gin, but I have a problem: Juniperus communis (common juniper berries) aren't sold anywhere in my country (Turkey). Local and online sellers only have red/brown juniper berries, which I'm not sure about, but they're probably Juniperus oxycedrus (prickly juniper). Are these red juniper berries suitable for gin making?

This forum is great, by the way! I apologize in advance for any errors in the translation.
