Hey There!

Post by cpolson »

Hi!
My name is Caleb from the upper midwestern United States, and I am pretty new to distilling. I have long been passionate about the science and processes around distilling and have visited more distilleries that any sane human would. I bought a simple 5gal pot still a few years ago and have used it a few times. So far I have mostly done a very simple rice based wash, but really want to get into more traditional American grain whiskey but have been a little intimidated by the extra steps involved (enzymes, malting, Amylase, gelatinizing, etc.). Recently a few buddies have decided they would like to get involved as well so I am taking the opportunity to ramp up and get a little more focused.

Thinking about doing a 100% corn or a corn and malted barley run next. Any good beginner recipes?
