Not by choice.
Been given the news we all dread, the news some of us get about family,or friends and even ourselves.
I was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
While being monitored for blastomycosis, they found a spot on my pancreas.
It was about a cm big, and had been growing as we monitored its size over the last 5yrs to now 2cm. 3cm is max before they slice you.
Went under the knife about a month ago. The plan was to remove 70% of my pancreas and my spleen, blood vessels attaching them means they both go. You only need 30% of your pancreas to not become diabetic. Spleen regulates infection,so would have had to go for vaccination s regularly. They opened me up and noticed it had spread to a few other areas. So did nothing. Taped me back up and removed nothing.
Which means it's now stage 4 having moved outside the pancreas. Pretty fucking shitty.
Sorry for cursing
Iv been doing a lot of research lately and with my sons help fasting. Fasting apparently when doing chemo helps incredibly with the side effects. So I've hit 39hrs for my longest. 12hrs in between, then back at it for another round of fasting. Amazingly,I'm suffering from no side effects from chemo except for some fatigue a few days after they take the pump off my arm.
I'm still feeling like I'm 35yr old. Actually according to all test and blood work, they would know I had cancer if they hadn't found that spot and monitored it with a biopsy. Physically,I'm back to my old self. Mentally? MEH. Mind races quite often. But I'm gonna stay positive and have a story to tell when it's all over.
Good friends, family and outlook are key.
So I'm really hoping we got this early. Most go undetected.
I really miss hanging out here with you guys.
And obviously no more drinking for a while.(Well maybe a single glass every 2 weeks).
One good thing is my supply is aging nicely having not dipped into any for a year or more now.
I'm staying at my boys presently, closer to hospital than my 6hr round trip from my place.
He's a big wine maker.
I mentioned bringing some equipment over and maybe making some Brandy while I'm sitting around doing nothing all day.
Hope to be back on track soon.
Apologies for cursing! But you know what they say. "FUK CANCER"
Good luck to everyone and take care of yourself.
Be back when I can
