Hi all complete newb here

Post by southcountryguy »

Hi to all from SE BC Canada.

I am absolutely new to distilling and doing as much reading as I can. Wish I would have found this site a month ago! So much good info here.

At the advice of a couple guys at work and research pI have ordered a Turbo 500 with the reflux column. Researching what to get was overwhelming and I came to the conclusion that this still would be the most versatile for me to start out with. I know there are love/hate and pros and cons with it. Once my lips are wet I can expand/modify to suit my needs.

Eventually I want to get into aged whiskeys but for right now I want to start making vodka/rums/liqueurs and maybe gins. We currently purchase a lot of craft distilled products and I am hoping to make a compatible product at considerably less cost. I have 20lbs of huckleberries I am itching to make an infused vodka or liqueur with!!!… that will wait for now. I currently plan to do a few simple sugar mashes first to learn my equipment.
Enough of my rambling thanks to all you seasoned distillers for your expertise on this site.
