I have to admit my wife was blown away by the process as she see's me in the outbuilding well over 12 hours running my VM. Mash Rookie has convinced me there is a better way...my next step as I am gathering the parts for my next build with MR's input and help (or should I say I might be helping him). He is very creative and has tremendous insight and ideas. I am glad we have connected. Also I got a good look at his third still he is building (all I can say is keep your eyes peeled).

With your larger drains, I hope you have the volume to recycle. As I stated on your post, You might already be getting more cycles with yoyr larger drains.

I've still got full plates when running full reflux, I don't know if this would allow me to add a drain or not. As you say, I might be getting a bit more draining action happening from plate to plate.

I like what you say about your rig not using as much water...that has got to be something of an efficiency gain.

I havn't regretted making one, and with MR's help, I'm sure you won't look back.
And just think, you'll do in 3 hours what the VM did in 12. That will give you 9 extra hours to hang out at MR's place

Mine will be a slightly different concept than the one MR is describing but still with a 4" column. I would like to spend more time in MR's shop but he has more work to do than just sit around and BS with this old retired guy. He also lives about 1-1/2 hours south of me however only about 5 min. from my mother-in-laws.

Funny, I was thinking today while doing maintenance, wondering if I would sell her or just retire her to the display shelf. I think she will just retire like a race horse. I am working on a couple of new builds now.

Ive been looking at stills etc for ages on the interweb, yours is definatly magic, should be called TinkerBell.

Pretty easy actually. I hard soldered five 5’, 3/8” dia soft tubes into a piece of 1”. Clamped a piece of pipe into a vise that the end would fit into, Spread them like a girl,,, Inserted a 1” od pipe in the center and started winding. When I got near the end I pulled the center tubing and finished each tube by hand and slid another piece of 1” over them. After hard soldering I cut the remainder off.

The glass was easy and cheap. Less than $20 For a 5’ piece that makes three covers.
It is cheaper than copper to do. ( I did break one during mock up) I still have one left if I screw up.

I am an artist by trade. i could not make this without treating it like a piece of art.

Please share where you purchased the glass. I really like the idea of the see through condenser housing. I would like to incorporate that into a design that I hope to begin when I round up some more parts.I have found glass on the web, but very expensive.
