I tried to get ahold of Samhon a couple times, he just vanished like a fart in the wind. A lot of us from that time frame had ways to conect other then the forums, I honestly think he's dead because he was to God damn smart to get incarcerate.

When I tried to reach out to him, I didn\t find any online messages about his dying ... then again, in whatever way I reached out to him, he never responded, so, yeah, you may be right.

He is sourly missed.

Has anyone heard from Olddog? He isn't a young guy but seems like he was still pretty spry. I spent years reading his posts and have learned so much from him. He was the inspiration behind my current still. I hope that he is well and still making the good stuff.

So many names, so many memories. Some gone, some still here. I love seeing people back in 2014 posting about how they miss the "old timers". I can't really remember when HD first started, but it has been decades now.

HD was around when modems made dialup sounds.

23,318.

I routinely prune out members who have never posted and have not logged in for six months. That's thousands of accounts I've deleted. So, 23,318 practically all of which have posted at least once.

I hadn't noticed it, I thought he was an "honorary" member, given his knowledge ... I guess you can't know which rules have been violated ... just curiosity

Yeah, almost 6500 posts was a decent contribution. But rules are rules.

Last login Aug 2020. So a bit more than two years ago it happened. And no one of the normal members recognized it? No information? Most forums have much more transparency about such things.

There are certain things that must be done at times that even those tasked to do it are pained by. Those that were paying attention knew what happened, and it's been mentioned before. We don't pride ourselves into the drama of announcing it like an achievement. I miss Odin as well. Trust me, that dude is doing just fine for himself.

I believe you that it is no fun to ban a member. And probably the drama before was also no fun.
An announcement written in an objective manner, what's the problem? It looks a bit suspicious, if we get the information two years later by accident. It looks like someone want's to hide something. Most members here appreciate Odin's posts. So if we don't get any info what happened, we will think it was a wrong decision.
Of course after that we have to accept such a decision regardless if we think it was right to ban him or if we don't think that it was enough to ban him.
Case closed for me. I only wanted to point out that there are other IMO better ways of handling such things.
