Since the age of 12 years old the Netherlands have been the only place in the world I have really desired to visit. Knowing that Odin and his distillery are there really makes it a dream worth having!

When I met Odin, he said something like "I don't sell stills... No. I sell tickets to Amsterdam!"

You remember well my friend! But there was a catch in that phrase! Anyhow, maybe Cranky and you can carpool over here?

Or planepool?

I told my wife I was going to see you in Amsterdam next year.

If you recall, we meet up in July the day after my daughter was born. Upon our "discussions" was the mention that "I don't care if you want to go to Amsterdam...go if you want to go...just don't miss the birth!"

I'm holding her to it. Kinda have been looking up tickets, about 700 or 800 seems to be the good rate.

I'll make it there. Been trying to figure which friend of mine to bring that would keep an eye on me, but leave the stories behind when we left....

For sure I remember! Great beers and whiskey in Allentown! Well, I'd love to have you over so we can visit Amsterdam together and maybe do a few runs in the distillery!

Next step! the iStill Fermenter 1000 has arrived. Well, actually it is a 900 liter version, since the ceiling is just 290 centimeters high. And the all new iStill 500 Pro Series is ready to be assembled. Here are a few pictures!

Pffffew ... One day of hard work! Today we have built up the iStill Fermenter 1000 as well as the iStill 500 Pro Series. Here's a picture. We are off to a dinner and then ... to bed early to catch some sleep!

Hey, it does start to look like a distillery, right? Even though I had someone tell me it actually looked more like the movie Transformers, with the iStill 500 Pro Series as Optimus Prime ...

Regards, Odin.

Haha! And I thought you wanted to see the fermenter and still! Silly (stilly)!

Raketemensch, yeah, my ceiling height is 292 centimeters. The 1000 liter Fermenter normally is 300 centimeters. We made the legs slightly shorter and sacrificed some 50 liters of inernal diameter. Putting it up, we had one centimeter to spare.

Everything looks wonderful, Odin!

I don't know what the state of craft distilling was in 1997 when I started the brewery (1996, actually, for planning, permits, etc., but first keg of beer was brewed almost exactly 18 years ago today!), but I think had times been different, an IStill and all the rest of your iEquipment would have been tickety-poo! Too old now I guess to start a new business (what am I saying, I have been retired for 2 years, I enjoy traveling and my - ahem - hobby). But if I were 20 years younger, well, a guy can think about what might have been!

I might have to join Cranky and Bearriver on that trip to Amsterdam though!

Thanks for sharing, Baxter! Your possitive comments are highly appreciated. And do know you are welcome to join Cranks and Beer in their across the ocean trip!

I am sure it will be a fantastic gathering with loads of fun, distilling, story-telling, and drinking and eating. And maybe a visit to the Amsterdam red light district as well?

Yeah, getting some awards is one of the goals I set myself with this set-up! And I will give you some updates on the first runs. Eagerly awaiting that myself. Currently in Hungary for Christmass with the inlaws. In about a week time, I will fire up the first ferment.
