Yes I've been buying enough for a small batch at a time and building my lowines up for a spirit run he had no heavy peat malt so I made him order a sack...so my barrel is holding right now and once its empty I will run my lows and refill the barrel with the golden promise goodness

I picked up this "used" new barrel $80 US

Local distillery is selling some used five gallon barrels with stands for $50-60. Picked up two. Not sure if the chat level. Now to decide what to start filling them with.

I picked up a bunch of sugar for $1.50 per bag, thought that was great, Walmart in new minas NS has a 2kg bag on for $1.27 so I got 30 more bags. Wife not knowing grabbed me 30 bags.... with the other sugar I now have 114 bags of sugar downstairs! Running my 100L fermenter flat out now! Lol!

Edit: thought I got 30 before but I got 60 at $1.50 so it’s 114 bags left downstairs. Current batch will be done Monday and then I’ll use another 18 bags or so for the next batch. I’m using that turbo yeast shit, letting it settle a day and running it in my 114L still. Starting at 18-19% it’s making almost a full carboy per run. Just doing strip runs right now, we’ll see what happens when I do a spirit run with proper cuts. Hopefully it’s not bad for a neutral being mixed into drinks.

This summer I was getting white sugar at wallmart 25 lb bags for $8.77. Just went back to restock and now they are $11.78! Crazy

Never saw it in 25# bags here. Either way, you were paying $1.54 or $2.07 for a 2kg bag(4.4#)
Still good, I’ve seen it anywhere from $2.49 to $3.00 per bag regular price. $1.50 to $1.27 on sale.

And this is in Canadian dollars so about $.45 per bag US! Lol!

Not only that sometimes I find the 10 lb bags are cheaper than the 25 lb per pound which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me as it is usually cheaper in bulk.

A buddy works at a local cooperage and brought me a brand new 53 gallon barrel. Free. I dont have enough clear stock saved up to fill that, so I guess when spring hits I'll start running again.

Today I picked up a complete kegerator system, 4 years old in great condition at an “estate sale.” Twin taps, two valve sets, two 5 lb cylinders, hoses, connectors, cleaning gear, a 1/2 bbl and a 1/6 bbl kegs, 2 stainless growlers in pristine condition. $450. Threw in two pistol cases, free (they was empty ).

Nice, looks like some coiled condensers are in your future. I built a lot of them before building my shotgun condensers. I built a tool using pillow blocks for turning the coils and haven’t used it in at least 8 years.

100 ft free. Always good.

100' of 3/8 copper sounds like a killer wort chiller to me.

Welcome back PP, careful on what you post on using that tank. We have a new since you were last here of no boilers greater than 30 gallons for a hobby level.
