Excellent setups UJ. and Stoker,good pre-heat idea U.J. I also like the external cooling coil Stoker thats serious cooling power. Your right about the Liebig is on the long side but my whole process of building has been based on the ability to interchange parts and be able to go from a pot still for some excellent flavor or to a reflux column at 24", or slap on the other 24" section for 48" for some "High Octane" spirits, Make it all in 1 swoop, Kill 2 birds with 1 stone!!

the external coil is added before I had the libieg. now I don't use it anymore.
the reflux condenser just has to condense the vapor, not cool it. the hotter the better for the equilibrium. the cooling of the liquid itself is only necessary for the % you take off and dont send back in your column. and there I have my liebig.
at least, that's my idea.

Your 901 boiler is quite unique whered you come across that ?

mine? why do you call it 901?
found it at a scrap yard, its an old water boiler I think. 90 liter, 14 kg of pure copper.

still breaking it in, seems to work nicely with the electric stove, I'll end up using it a little, but it'll be more of a conversation piece than anything.
