Heading out to the big state wide yard sale. Looking to find a 5 or 7gal keg that will be used as a thumper and boiler. Hoping to find one in the 20 to 50 dollar range. My plan is to make the piping connection all 2" . I just need the keg and maybe another elbow... And some flanges ... Lol y'all told me the rabbit hole was deep...
Antique stainless steel milk collector canisters come in 5 gallons that might also work for you. I have two different styles that I use as my boilers for essential oil and the other for gin.
Will look for those too. Waiting on the brother and sister in-law to pick up their kids. Thanks for the reminder. I will be asking about those now as well .. I wouldn't even have thought of asking about them... Good call.
Iv been thinking of thumpers on and off.
Iv got miles of 1 1/2. Copper, what you plan on running through yours? Rum,whiskey?
I drink so much now,on the back of my license it's a list of organs I need.
Just about anything I can distill. I been doing a lot of SSS and UJSSM, and All Bran wash. Been making Brandy from wine I been getting from a local winery that my friend owns. Looking to get into all grain, hence the thumper idea .. I haven't made any rum yet. But I like the results I been getting. All ways try to have a ferment going and something to run... Kinda of an addiction really. Been reading all I can about Thumper's.

Given the demand for Badmo Legacy Barrels, I think being able to snatch up a M4 120 month seasoned Oregon Oak barrel this morning while at work counts as a sweet deal.

My son is a wine and spirits distributor and often gifts us with free alcohol. Today he brought over the following bottle of Don Julio Reposado tequila.
My local supermarket had a very good one day special on cheese, so I went shopping first thing in the morning and bought enough to fill my smoker, then spent the rest of the day smoking it.
I've already given some away, so I might get some feedback on how it went tomorrow.

I cold smoke balderson cheese quite often.
It's a big hit on the charcuterie board.

Got this from a friend yesterday.
If you know, you know.
That is a treasure, we have ours shipped and order online. Below is a link to the online ordering and a list of the different flavors. Best cheese on the market. https://creamery.wsu.edu/cougar-cheese/
My wife got ahold of some Cougar cheese from an outlet here on the West side a couple years ago but I don't remember exactly where now. It's great stuff though.
Sometimes I wonder why is that Frisbee getting bigger......and then it hits me.
I've been away from the HD hobby for a while and just recently have got things going again. I'm looking through the Tried and True section and decide to try a new recipe that calls for DAP. So I know I used to have some so I go down to the shed where all my hobby stuff has been stored for the last 8 years roughly. I'm diggin around I actually find my DAP in a tightly sealed zip lock and a bunch of other stuff. Then down on the floor tucked way back in the corner is a box that catches my attention I pull back the box top and discover it's full of quart mason jars and they are all full 9 jars in total. I don't have any idea what it is accept something that I distilled around 8 years ago. It smell really good but I'm going to run it through the still again and see what comes out. It's like finding an envelope full of money that you forgot you stashed long ago. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised hell at my age I can hide my own Easter eggs. Just wondered if anyone else has any great finds lately.

Nice find. I bet you were like " where the hell did this come from" , then probably trying to remember what is was. I know I would have been. It's probably a sweet feed run from back then... Didn't you say you used to do a lot of Sweet feed??
Anyway glad you found it!!! I'm with you on running it thru the still again... Those lids look a bit rusty. Running it thru again will sort that out tho. Good find man. Might end up being the best drop you ever made!! Let us know how it turns out... Thank for sharing.
Ya, it might be sweet feed and the way the jars are numbered I think it needs another trip through the still, I'll be running it soon I'll let you know.

Pour it all in a pot and check the ABV, dilute it the bare minimum, and rerun it. This time don't forget to select your cuts before you set it aside and forget it again.

Spotted a guy selling "BBQ smoking" whiskey barrel chunks from a sawmill between where I work, and home.
From the pic they looked really thick and chunky. They were cheap in bulk and looked well charred.
Right after work I went there, had a quick chat and said I don't need a huge sack.
He filled a big bag with about 10kgs of nice long sections that I pointed out in a corner and said "Fiver?"
Drove home happy from work today!
I just ran the stuff I found and holy cow it came out pretty good. The line at the top of the liquid bulge is 198 and I know I can't get quite that high so it's a little off,I maybe the temp but it came out pretty clean so I've got some really good neutral to do fun stuff with.
