Okee dokee then; 1-1/2" it is...

Wonder how clean and "pure" a stainless steel exhaust pipe is? A 3' or 4' length of 2-1/2" or even 3" is very reasonably priced and may work just fine for this.

it is made out of cheep stainless and will rust,you mite say it is rust resistance not rust proof.

An exhaust pipe is likely chrome as opposed to stainless.

I don't think you guys realize how much work you're creating for yourself with carbon filtering. Don't get me wrong, activated carbon has it's place and it's place is at a distillery running continuous "coffey type" stills that make it impossible to do decent cuts.
Skip the carbon and just throw some b. soda in your spirits and try again. By the time you've finished filtering your product, I've drank most of mine. It's alot less work to do it right the first time.

Distilling is a fun hobby but it is a bit of work to get right. When you're doing a run, taste your spirits, smell it, rub it between your fingers. Become one with the "spirits". lol

Also, there are chemical tolerant/ethanol tolerant hoses that you can get from chem supply companies like VWR but most come in 50 foot lengths and you will pay out the nose for it.
