That barrel wasn't charred near as deep as the half barrel I picked up a few years back. Also, keep in mind that the spirits in the barrel never touched uncharred wood, so by simply using the broken-off, or cut off pieces without charring the rest of the surfaces, you're in new territory, with less than 25% of the wood in your spirits being charred, the remaining 75+% being raw oak.

at this point, i just cut out one of the variables,,,(less oak). alls i gotta do is go more oaking until i cross the woody taste threshold, then back up
