Gotta love Kip Attaway

Last night we had a date, we stayed up late, I bought round after round.
Just for you I played the fool, yes I was quite the clown.
Words were spoken, hearts were broken, now I hope you see,

It was the whiskey talkin', not me.

I didn't mean to make a scene, it's really not my style.
Raised some Cain, I called some names, I guess I got myself a little wild.
If I brag too loud and act too proud, don't blame it all on me,

It was the whiskey talkin', not me.

Had myself a little splash, said "You no good piece of trash!"
Shot my mouth off through the night, but Lord, my bark's bigger than my bite.
Lies were told, if I was bold don't take it personally,

It was the whiskey talkin', not me.

At the bar I bucked and bulled, picked a fight and I got floored.
Had a shot, I got insane, I took everybody's name in vain.
But all that stuff is just a bluff, I wouldn't hurt a flea,

It was the whiskey talkin', not me.

[funny bar room conversational stuff I won't transcribe]

The devil made me do some things that really take some nerve.
How could I sass a girl like you? You're more than I deserve!
Don't get upset, please accept my apology,

It was that whiskey talkin', not me.

Met up with some old moonshine, my mouth was workin' overtime.
Lettin' off a little steam, I'm not the killer that I seem.
Sometimes I'm strange, but I might change, you have my guarantee.

It was the whiskey talkin', not me.

usually just turn on Sirius Outlaw Country or Bluegrass. Lots of good music.

I agree. I love Sirius. To answer the topic specifically though, I like Jimmy Buffet, even though he's not what you'd call an Outlaw these days.

Not really a big Jimmy Buffett fan here. He did one good song I know of though, and Kip Attaway did a cover of it, and here it is for your enjoyment: The I-95 Song.

http://homedistiller.org/daver/The_I-95_Song.mp3

Warning it's for adults only. Perfect for those long road trips.

If I'm doing an indoors run with my electric fractioning still, I drag the old F65 Fender out and play White Lightning and various other George Jones, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill etc. I will also take the guitar outside on a nice day when I run my Propane Pot Still. The more taste testing I do, the better I sound

Someone gave me that I-95 song a long, long time ago and it was funny so I tracked down the CD by Kip Attaway and bought it. Of course, they'll tell you that music sharing rips off the artist, which I sincerely doubt. I'd never have bought the CD if I didn't hear it from a pal first.

Think that's why lots of bluegrass songs are G, C & D. When the shine kicks in that may be all you're able to remember!

Merry Christmas everyone.

the cabbage head song be my favorite.Had a uncle that after a few good sips would play it on the fiddle and taught us kids to sing along. The tune runs through my mind sometimes when im stillin :) Cabbage Head Song

Well I came home the other night,
just drunk as I could be
Found a horse in my stall
where my horse aughta be.

I said come here my little wife
explain this thing to me
How comes a horse in my stall
where my horse aughta be?

She said, You drunk fool
you blind fool
Can't you never see
That's just a little milk cow
my Grandma sent to me

Well, I've traveled this whole world over
a thousand times or more--
But a saddle and bridle on a milk cow
I've never seen before.

Well I came home the other night,
just drunk as I could be
Found a coat in the closet
where my coat aughta be.

I said come here my little wife
explain this thing to me
How comes a coat in the closet
where my coat aughta be?

She said, You drunk fool
you blind fool
Can't you never see
That's just a little bed quilt
My Grandma sent to me.

Well, I've traveled this whole world over
a thousand times or more--
But coat pockets on a bed quilt
I've never seen before!!

Well I came home the other night,
just drunk as I could be
Found a hat on the hat rack
where my hat aughta be.

I said come here my little wife
explain THIS thing to me
How comes a hat on the hat rack
where my hat aughta be?

She said, You drunk fool
you blind fool
Can't you never see
That's just a little chamber pot
My Grandma sent to me.

Well, I've traveled this whole world over
a thousand times or more--
But a J P STETSON CHAMBER POT
I've never seen before!!

Well I came home the other night,
just drunk as I could be
Found some boots in the hallway
where MY boots aughta be!!!

I said come here my little wife
EXPLAIN this thing to me
How comes a boots in the hallway
where my boots aughta be?

She said, You drunk fool
you blind fool
Can't you never see
That's just a pair of butter churns
my Grandma sent to me.

Well, I've traveled this whole world over
a thousand times or more--
But pair of size 12 butter churns,
I've never seen before!!

Well I came home the other night,
just drunk as I could be
Found a HEAD ON THE PILLER
where my HEAD aughta be!!!

I SAID COME HERE MY LITTLE WIFE
EXPLAIN THIS THING TO ME......
HOW COMES A HEAD ON THE PILLER
WHERE MY HEAD AUGHTA BE???

She said, You drunk fool
you blind fool
Can't you never see
That's just a little cabbage head
my Grandma sent to me.

WEEELLLLL, I'VE TRAVELED
THIS WHOLE WORLD OVER
A THOUSAND TIMES OR MOORREEEE
BUT A MUSTACHE .........ON A CABBAGE HEAD
I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!

One must sing this with a cockney accent:

I don't want to join the Army
I don't want to go to war
I want to live me life in London
Jolly, Jolly, London
And live off the ernings of an igh class lady

I don't want a bullet in me backsides
I don't want me knockers shot away
I want to live me life in London
Jolly, Jolly, London
And fornicate me bloomin life away

I bet there are more lyrics, but these are all I know.

I don't sing while stilling as I think it would curdle the spirit, but we rock and roll a lot so maily listen to 50's rockabilly. The other night we were practicing some moves at home and my wife said, 'have you ever listened to the words of this song?" I never listen to the words mainly cos I'm a 'little bit deaf'. It was called "White Lightning" sung by George Jones. From what I could hear it was quite appropriate.

Nothing but Dooley by the Darlings for me .. all time favorite stillin song ..

Now Dooley was a good old man, he lived below the mill.
Dooley had two daughters and a forty-gallon still.
One gal watched the boiler, the other watched the spout,
And Mama corked the bottles when old Dooley fetched 'em out.

(Chorus)
Dooley, slippin' up the holler
Dooley, tryin' to make a dollar
Dooley, give me a "swaller"
And I'll pay you back someday.

The revenuers came for him, a slippin' through the woods
Dooley kept behind 'em all and never lost his goods.
Dooley was a trader, when into town he'd come,
Sugar by the bushel and molasses by the drum.

I remember very well the day old Dooley died,
The women-folk looked sorry and the men stood around and cried.
Now Dooley's on the mountain, he lies there all alone.
They put a jug beside him and a barrel for a stone.

You guys play guitar and stuff while stilling? Wow, I do all my cuts in 500ml mason jars and they fill quite quickly, don't have time to play guitar. In fact I don't have the radio or anything on in the garage either. I make an effort to be quiet, blanket over the window and lock the side door. A 4" gap under the big door and the garden hoses running in and out is the only thing to see.

I might be paranoid, but I got a RCMP living next door to me in this sub division. (about 50ft from my house/75-100ft from my garage)
Last batch I was running I got a knock on the door and I almost shit. It was a guy trying to get elected to local council walking around. I blocked his view and shoo'd him away with a "yeah I'll vote for ya, don't care about your platform thanks". I still get strange looks when I see him.
