After it's compressed, it doesn't look like beeing porous, it looks like normal PTFE-tape.
I tried to seal a flange with it. Yes, it sealed well, but only once. Just like flour paste.
I have a roll of Inertex brand valve stem packing made from e-PTFE, and it does not have that issue. Used the same gasket dozens of times without issue.
Oh thats intersting! And it expands again like rubber?

My concern wasn't really with the durability of multiple uses rather than product safety. I had assumed it would be fine being that it is made of 100% teflon. The stuff seals covers on spiral/plate heat exchangers and have used gaskets 2-3 times (SQ S material/UHF tape) and it has held a seal through that abuse. Again, I know this topic is like beating a dead horse, but, seemed to be the better thread to bring up this product.
