I work in a pub.
Functional alcoholism is kind of part of the territory.
My tab come payday averages out at around the 100 units mark.
Then there is the home brew cider, vodka, and whisky.
So lets add half again, so 150 units a week.
But then again, I am 6 foot 5, and 23 stone (320lb for our colonial cousins...)
I move an average of 4 tons of stock, 3 times a week.
I double stack 100l barrels alone. (120kg ish?)
All the health advice over here in blighty is based upon a 6 stone hobbit type person.
People arent well known for reading the label, following advice and being sensible, so everything has to be based on little hobbit type people for fear that someone will take a dose of alcohol, aspirin, cough mixture etc designed for the average person and die from it.
So a heavy drinker?
No. I wouldnt say so!
The surgeon general seems to have confused a safe weekly intake of alcohol with the average luchtime pint with the lads!
It's much easier to cut a bit off than weld a bit on...
