Hey DAD300 thanks for the info. those stills sound really neat, i have never heard of them before but i can definatly see where they would be benificial now.

just checked the mash, the sg is 1.000 still bubbling but slowing down. mmmm, taste so good cant wait to distill it.

defiantly takes a while for this stuff to settle. I collected about 5 gallons of clear, I'm hoping to get a few more gallons of clear but this might take a while.

well I decided to take the remainder of the rice and squeeze all the liquid out of it instead of letting it clear. I ran it last week , I charged the boiler with 5 gallons and the thumper with 2 and ended up with @ 2 - 1/2 quarts of the best tasting spirits I have ever tasted, wow!! I will defiantly be doing this one a lot more.

Well my separating the grain days may be over. I discovered I have an 8 gallon boiler that will fit inside the keg (top cut out) I mash in.the keg I mash in. So will soon try my home made Bain Marie without separating the grain.
