I think there have been threads about adding tobacco to a ferment.
Like chewing KHAT or coca leaves. They need the enzymes or reaction of added lye release the alkaloid.

I was going to say "I shudder at the thought" but I smoke cigars with my drinks so... to each his own I guess.

I looked up the BP of some of these toxins and they seem to be above 500ºC but then again water and nicotine form an azeotrope so that even nicotine's 247ºC boiling point doesn't keep it from coming over during distillation.
I'd have to say that it is better to be safe and pass on this idea.

Not to worry, I'd made that decision when I heard back from PSU's Ag extension officer. I'm too old to start that nonsense up again.

Just a note of no real importance, the mold on grains (usually rye ) that made people high is not lsd. Lsd is a synthetic compound modeled and derived from LSA, a compound that will cause both visual and auditory hallucinations, but also comes with some very nasty side effects. If there are any here who have ever had "lsd" that gave them a sore back the next day, it was not lsd but LSA. Just a trivial.piece of information. I'm going back to stripping corn/wheat for vodka now.
