Honestly, I think y'all are being a bit hard on this fella. He has produced a fine tutorial, pretty decent production values, very thorough explanations, and a step-by-step guide for his process.
Granted, his protocols could use a little tweeking, and those of us here on HD could upgrade his rig a little bit, materials-wise, but he says right up front, it's for folks who might not want to go through the "performance of a still and all that crazy shit". His air-cooled condenser is great for people in drought stricken areas.
I expect he is getting a little smearing with those coffee machine heaters, but he is advising a good fores/heads cut to keep the product classy. The recipe is solid. I would guess, that at least for him, it is pure T&T. Just don't tune out so fast that you miss the addition of the "16 oranges".

To a guy that just had to make Froot Loops shine, this Prison Hooch is going to be pretty hard to resist.
I'll probably scale the recipe down to hobby size, and adjust his yeast starter to my protocol.
Besides, I'm gonna need something for a sac run soon as I get my kegs together....

I've rethunk the idea of hauling that much hooch around the countryside, and I no longer feel that's a good idea.
I have absolutely no desire to be makin' prison hooch, in prison! I'll not be a stickler for authenticity on this one.

Just I little thought for those of you who are concerned about the law. Put your shine in commercial bottles of the same type of the product you have made. What cop is going to open a bottle and test the contents and then try to decide if it is genuine or not. Officer I am going to a 21st party and I have to supply the booze.

The guy isn't a total idiot, he made a rig, it works to us its scetchy. Guys at work once made a still out of beer cans, they used it, it worked. Sounded like a good idea and design. I'm sure if he was on HD he would probably learn alot and contribute some knowlage. Just his setup is actually pretty basic and ingenious if you think of it. He explains it well and maybe given the right equipment he would make some good hooch. It does have a jail look to it though.

i was kinda impressed with the plastic bag + cardboard fermenter. if the bags are food quality it means you have some pop up fermenters for when you run out of space

edit* you can get up to 60 Gallon HDPE bags on amazon. thats a big pop up fermenter.

But that isn't just his fermenter and I've fermented just like that, with a single garbage bag, back in the 70's & 80's, but it's also his boiler... The whole boiling in plastic and capturing high proof alcohol in plastic bags is just plain crazy...

I made a still once out of a 5litre stainless steel saucepan, a coil of copper tube, 2 empty 2l bottles a couple compression fittings. It worked. Was slow but turned shitty wine into shitty booze. Oh yah and we used leftover rice we microwaved with a bit of added water for mushyness for the seal.

This brings me back. Some time in the 1980's, I made my first batch of beer in a trash bag from a cheap beer kit a friend had received as a gift from an unidentified uncle. Bottled it in twist-off coke bottles, and suffered through consuming almost all of it. It was truly horrid.

Let's say over the next thirty years or so I got really good at the process.......I don't believe I've used trash bags for any fermentation-related-activity in that time.
