I've ran sugar rum with dark brown sugar and now have fallen into some molasses from a friend.
8# dark brown sugar
4 gal unsulphured molasses
1cp bakers yeast boiled with 6tsp lemon juice and 5 1 a day vitamin then simmered for 15 minutes or so.
Mixed 3/4 cup bakers yeast (dry) and mixed like a mad man for 20 minutes with a paddle until my arms felt like they were rubber.
Total is about 14 gal wash.
Today it's barely sweet and think it will be done tomorrow, I've read different opinions on whether to settle or not. I myself like the bakers yeast smell and taste. I'm not so sure now with this being rum but my sf is great with the flavors. Some or any feedback will be appreciated.
