I have several gallon jugs with natural cork stoppers, a 10L SS mini keg, a 1 gallon mini keg, a handful of 2L mason jars, and a couple of 5 gallon barrels. I have about a dozen whiskey bottles in .750 and 1.75L sizes. Bulk storage isn't an issue. Fermenter space and time to make enough booze to fill everything, that's my issue.

Exactly! Haha

It’s something a little different than the same old same though. $20 ain’t too bad either.

Many champagne corks fit 2 litre flagons.
And maybe some other containers...

It would depend on the corks. It's possible to create corks like that using only the natural "glues" found in the cork, but unless you're certain you need to be aware that there may be funky resins leeching into your drink.

Trying to pour out of these might be more trouble than it’s worth now that I think about it.

🎱 The struggle is real and this rabbit hole just got interesting.

Two different things being discussed here, imo.
Aging on oak my research has shown stainless steel to be the best alternative to oak barrels. I prefer a large stock pot and lid, over the use of kegs. Simply due to accessibility to the oak.

Someone on here used a stock pot, cut an oak disc for a lid. Then charred the inside facing disc to mimick a barrel. And might have even added a spout. Seemed like a lot of extra time and trouble to me.

Finished product storage I use wine bottles, which I acquire for free. I have a Winery nearby that gives me all bottles used during tastings. Once used they cannot be reused by the Winery. Worth checking if you have one in your area.

Previously I utilized mason jars. With this pandemic, everyone in my area decided to start putting out a garden. And you can't hardly find jars . Those who have found them, are reselling on Craigslist for 4x their normal value.

This hobby really is not so much about making alcohol. But bottling opportunities to make memories with Friends and Family.

I see quart jars are back in stock but half gallons are still hard to find. Also check out bars or restaurants for 1 gallon jars. A lot of products are now in plastic but some olives and pickles are still shipped in glass gallon jars. Natural corks that size are outrageous but PTFE sheets are cheap and can fit under the regular lid

OK, OK. You made your point. Repeating it doesn’t really add more value. A single post is just as valuable.

Half gallon jars are bountiful in my area. Two weeks ago I picked up another case of quarts and a case of pints. Almost bought more half gallons, but passed.
