Vodka Essence?!?

Was in a local brew shop today getting some corks, and noticed among their large range of essences they had 3-4 brands of 'vodka essence'.
WTF is that?
I thought the essence of vodka was just plain ethanol and water.
(I ain't spending money to find out.
