Chris, you should post a pic of your carboys dressed up in their baby clothes...

As someone once said, it's a hand hold not a handle. You still need to support the carboy from the bottom. For pouring and cleaning, I wouldn't be without them.potatofish wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:05 am I didn't realize that the carry handles on the neck were meant for empties only! Glad to know that now and will be using the milk crate + foam method.

I also use milk crates for empty storage and these Brew Hauler straps. I only have 3 glass carboys, so I leave the straps on all the time. They work really good.
Glad you are ok.

Re: Glass carboy related safety failure today
These are great for moving carboys, if a little dear on the pocket book. I'd still want the handle as the positive connection provides a lot of stability when pouring and cleaning. That said, I'd go stainless if better options were available.pickled wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 6:18 am I also use milk crates for empty storage and these Brew Hauler straps. I put duct tape bands, vertical and horizontal, around mine with minimal gaps between them. The idea is if there was a problem it would minimize glass flying around. I am in the process of moving over to 5 gallon SS kegs for low wine storage.

Have you looked at Keglands minikegs. Depends on what you class as inexpensive. The Baker wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 6:50 pmI am looking for small stainless tanks myself.Beerswimmer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 4:32 pm Yeah, thanks. I'm going to look into buying some small stainless tanks for storing low wines. I might be done with carboys for good after reading through the homebrew links! Yikes!
But they would have to be inexpensive....

Thanks, silverbean.
No, I don't really need them but if I came across them free or nearly and close to home...
