What is your winebrite filter housing made out of?

Durable plastic that is unaffected by 45% spirit, or is this something they are selling that we shouldn't use. So with that logic, we shouldn't be using racking canes, plastic jugs, plastic equipment that everyone uses in the shed or brewery. I am still waiting to hear what rule I broke, please advise soI can become a better person.

Wine and beer isn't as high proof so there it's all right to use plastics.
Lots of people found plastic measuring cilinders to become brittle and opaque when used with spirits. So leaching is an issue.
Also, the use of plastics can turn into almost religious flame wars. So the forum's policy is don't use it.
I'm a grown up and you can do whatever you please in your own home. But you shouldn't advocate using plastic with high proof alcohol here.

Thanks for the explanation, pity I wasn't pointed at this particular section of the rules, so I knew what was being mentioned. Now I realise. I am aware that high proof spirit causes problems with plastic, but the only plastics I use are PDFE and are supposedly recommended fit for purpose when dealing with spirits under 45% which is all I do. Ive changed to glass measuring jugs glass cylinder for proofing, copper elbow joints on my still and high density pdfe thick non yielding tubing that comes with the still for the spirit out feed. I cant change anymore to be safety conscious and the wineebrite filter come with carbon filter pads specifically for use on spirits, so I thought I was ok there as the plastic they use looks food grade PDFE, Anyway I now realise it is an emotive subject and ill measure my responses accordingly, thanks for the exact explanation I needed.

HDPE, sorry we all make typos occasionally. High-density polyethene I think. I get mix up sometimes hardly.

Make good cuts......run enough reflux dont rely on temps to run the still and then there is no need for carbon filtering.

Thanks Bill but it wasn't about filtering spirit, the post was about the haze from mixing water with gin and I said I got rid of mine by using a filter padsoaked in water and Chriznz scolded me for using plastic, then I , not knowing, defended the filter I used and he scolded me for breaking the rules which I apologised for.

Chris. the last thing I want to do is fall out with you. I respect and follow you with great interest, but in a truthful critique of your posts and hopefully, my critique will be taken as an observation and not a slant or dig at you, but ie read enough of your posts to know that you are a man of few words and in many of your posts, you give the guts of the reply but leave the giblets to one side hoping the reader gets the gist, without actually saying anything pertinent. Ergo this leaves most of your posts open to the reader interpretation. Why didn't you just say we don't advocate discussions on plastics and that would have been great, instead of pointing me at a rule book that had myriad of points which I couldn't relate our issue to.

they were read but maybe not digested verbatim. my issue was assigning the rule he was subliminally pointing at.
