Served in a handgrenade….
I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.
That’s it. No more reading!

Went to brunch with my wife and her uncle today for his 83rd birthday. Her uncle after retirement went to work for grey lines who did tours in nola, he stopped doing the tour after Hurricane Katrina. The one he did was a walking cocktail tour. Pics below of a book he wrote which is basically the tour he did, a history of what cocktails that were started in nola.

Personally, I like “the ponies”. That’s why my Colts are my best friends. And “the snakes” are especially well respected. However, my CCW is a Colt New Agent, a robust 1911 in 9mm with a Crimson Trace laser.

My friend Frank has a hi point. It's a very unwieldy club.

Back on topic Chauncey, do they still have the drive-in daiquiri stores there. Back in the ‘80s when I lived there, they were springing up all around town. I remember fondly grabbing a big “Highway 190” for the drive back to Slidell from Metairie. Oh, to be young once again.

I'm from north Louisiana, we still have them up here. They are not illegal until you put the straw into the cup.

First Daiquiri I ever tasted was a Mango Daiquiri in a strange little Mexican Restaurant in Lansing, Michigan....it was in a huge glass and after two of those and a huge Mexican Meal I needed a short nap.
Once I was home I learned how to make them using my own home grown mangoes, I still make them for friends and they love them.

Just passing through and visiting people Larry. I tend to steer clear of the major tourist destinations when I travel. Get to see the real country and meet the real people that way.........saw and did things most tourists will never see or do.

Re: Is there a traditional New Orleans liquor?
So, what you're saying Chancey, is this noobie, cranking out sugar washes down here on the bayou, is carrying on a Louisiana tradition?

I've lived within 50 miles of New Orleans my whole life, spent my teen years in the early 80s in the French Quarter every weekend. I'm kinda like Steve, I don't remember a specific liquor, but just LOTS of it.
