Raschig Rings size?

Raschig Rings size?
I'm in the process of converting my CM still to CCVM and want to try a different packing. I had it 3/4 filled with copper mesh and I presently picked up 2.5kg of 8mm x 8mm Raschig rings and I would like to know if they are too large for a 2" column 20" long, or should I break then in half. I noticed that 6mm x 6mm rings are mostly used.
