Perforated plates vapor speed/hold up/reflux ratio questions

Howdy y'all
Looking for some help with perf plates...
Does anyone have any info regarding vapor speed to the percentage of plate being open and reflux ratio?
I'm trying to determine at what speed plates would be ineffective with no forced reflux.
So as an example a 4" column with 3500w has a vapor speed of 12.75 ft/sec. And say you're running 4 perf plates that are 10% open, with no forced reflux. Would that operate like a pot still being that there is no (to minimal) liquid hold up? Then say you were to add say 10% reflux would the plates then function properly?
I know the down side of perf plates is the narrow operating range but what's that range under what what percentage of plate under what R/R?
Thanks,
B
