First all grain and fear of puke

Post by Peaty Jones »

This is my first distillation after sacrificial run. I have done a all grain mash of 110l. Basically its peated malted barley of 34kg and 10kg of pilsner malt. The OG was 1.082 and it stopped to around 1.016. I infusion mashed it and fermented in grain. Yesterday i mesh filtered the mash and i used this Small centrifugal drier to get all the precious liguid out of the grain. Theres guite much of protein trub even after Screening im thinking of useing gelatin to clarify it.(Should i?). I have DIY 50l sankey keg Still with 3kW electric heater and im going to strip the mash soon. I have no antifoaming agents available and i read one can use butter as such? Does it do the trick and if so how much (in grams) should it be used for lets say 35l run? I have enough 2" triclamp pipes to make a 1,5m tall column but i first thought of useing very Small column to get much of the flavor out of it (should i? Does it make the situation even worse in case of pukeing? How Small would u suggest?)
