DIY Keg, The drain, should it be installed on:
(a.) the very center / bottom of keg .
(b.) the lower side of keg say 3 inch from bottom. positioned adjacent to electric port.
This is what I do know, when stripping is completed ( off the grain ) , you have nearly a full load of hot setback.
Using a digiboil , I use the side port to fill up a small bucket, and carefully dump in sink. This happens
until i get it down where I can pick it up safely say 3 gallons or so. Then i dump it straight in the sink.
No matter what for me, I try not to lift anything more than 5 gallons of any temperature liquid. Hot, 3 gallons max for me.
Thought one. The base of a keg is sturdy,
Thought two. One day I will sell or trade the keg, next person might want to heat from bottom and not use electric. Side drain has more applications ?
Thought three. I will have to get side port elevated enough for small bucket, by raising keg on stand . I suppose I could incorporate a pump that can take heat and pump the setback into the sink.
What are your thoughts about (a.) and (b.)
DIY electric Keg , the drain, side or bottom ?
