Hello, dear friends
My goal is to build a hybrid system to produce neutral alcohol without any flavor or odor, I want to make it from sugar. The equipment I have includes a 25-gallon boiler with a 4.5 kW heating element and PID control, three 4-inch bubble plates, and a 135 cm (4-inch) column. My plan is to first install the three copper bubble plates I have, then connect the 135 cm 4-inch column, and afterward add a deflegmator.
My goal is to produce azeotropic alcohol above 95.5%. I need your guidance on what to use for packing. Honestly, accessing SPP (structured packing) is difficult and a bit expensive for me. I plan to make my own SPP using 316 stainless steel wire. Please tell me the wire diameter and the size of the SPP itself so that the column doesn’t become too heavy, flooding doesn’t occur, and the alcohol yield isn’t reduced. What’s your opinion? By the way, I also have access to aquarium media like Siporax. I’d appreciate your guidance
