I could shoot the eye out of a fruit fly with that old bent barrel .22 I lugged around as a kid! I spent as much time in the woods as I could - as soon as all my farm chores were done. Hell; I knew every inch of ground for a 10 mile radius. I'm partial to my .243 Sako Finnwolf (lever action). It is a very nice weapon for deer hunting or varmit blasting. I also like the 30-06 and toted one of those in Colorado for Elk. I would like to put together a .308 milspec weapon some day.

Having been in the Army for 21 years I've shot some very cool weapons. The M79 (thumper) was fun. The MK 19 grenade launcher is a hoot! The Army's M242 is a 25 MM chain gun that we had in the Bradley Fighting vehicle series was impressive and could fire single shot, 100 or 200 rounds per minute of AP, HE and tracer. There were other applications for the 242 and if you changed the drive motor and some internal parts you could triple the rate of fire. The M2 .50 cal is fun to rattle off (Ma deuce).

But my all time favorite was the M60 (vet's call it the PIG) machine gun. I humped that thing with extra ammo, barrel and tripod (with an assistant gunner/loader) with all my other grunt gear. That thing could lay down some fire! Not as awesome as the German G42/43 variants but the PIG could light it up. God, love me some PI.

Picked up a Hopkins & Allen 12 ga. Forehand shotgun this past weekend. $100. They are not worth much more than that but it was an interesting piece so I bought it.

I have an H&R single shot shotgun that I bought at Kmart in the seventies for 48 bucks. 12 gauge it would put a hurtin on my 12 year old bony shoulder

I know this gun, was the first shotgun I ever used. It was my Grandfathers, like being hit in the shoulder with a golf club, but then years latter I saw a 9 year old girl use the very same gun and with a big grin asking if she could have another shot  .
A and H I know as the makers of the old saturday night specials the gangster use to have in their pockets. 5 shot 32s ya could about hide in ya wallet but prolly more dangerous from any distance if ya threw it at something :lolno:

most of the big game that has fed my family was taken with 30-06. i had incredible luck with the 180 gr bronze point that Remington makes.

i have used 45-70 for big game also closer in though and hand loaded. that was a Ruger number 3 that i traded off many years ago.

now i am working on loads for a 45-90 in my Winchester mdl. 1886, and for fun i have a c. sharpes high wall 1885 in cal. 40-90 sharpes straight Fun Stuff.

As for future hunts i will load the 30-06, and also the marlin .444. and a Winchester .348 in a model 71... why decide, ADD is so fun for the variety we can have...

for small game i like my Winchester 92 in 32-20

have to admit I love the nostalgia of the old ones... but one dreary summer i stepped into the world of black.

ended up with an AR in 50 Beowulf and a second upper in 6.5 Grendel... interesting rounds but i kinda wish i went ar 10 instead because, for my usage, i think 308 or 260 Remington would be more suitable...

Ms Corene,

looks like the thread was moved

in answer to your post

the color of your stock is beautiful, nice looking furniture

The 22 is the most under rated 22 out theii

the top is an old remington sportsmaster 512, I grew up with it
it is a single shot with hundreds of squirrel under its belt

the other is a 1975 winchester...with eyes getting old..that big scope ensures them tree rats do not get away!!!!!!!!!
