Goose eye, your "rig" can be used for essential oils, distilled water, vinegar, whatever.....just so long as your not making alcohol. If you are making alcohol, which I bet your not, I mean, I'm not. I make vinegar! Just keep it clean after you use it.

Waterdistiller, you name is probably already on the list but looks to me like you are distilling water so why would care if the TTB has your name?

If you have over 1 gallon boiler with that rig whether your cookin oils, vinegar or distilled water that rig is illegal unless you have a permit.

If you have over a 1 gallon boiler connected to that rig it is an illegal rig. I wonder how many 1 gallon boilers were bought with the different rigs

Do you think it makes sense to cancel an order made prior to this investigation if the item has not been built or shipped yet? Meaning it was ordered and paid for but I'm still waiting for it to be built. I have to opportunity now to cancel the order but I'm assuming my name and address have already been handed over and I already need to start disposing of my prior equipment.
I would cancel my order and demand a full refund.

Anyway back to topic, If I get notified or called from the TTB, I will def post about it as I hope if any of y'all do you will let us know as well. Again I'm pretty sure the TTB can only check records though. They work for the Dept of Treasury.

Are you daft? The TTB won't be the ones knocking on your door. Do you think that different gov't agencies can't and won't share info? If they have your address and know you have a still, the ATF know it as well. All it takes is for them to actually want to check you out.

ATF: Hey guys, can I have that list of people who purchased stills?

TTB: Sure here you go. Wanna have some beers after work?

ATF: Fuckyea.

yup - build it yourself - plenty of documentation out there to DIY.
Cancel the order, state you will contact the CC company if the full amount is not refunded as they are selling products that are not legal to own :D

Since you have not taken possession of a still, they will not look at you. If they have documentation that you possess a still, if I were investigating, I would take it to a judge for a search warrent - "yer honor, we have documentation that still #[number] was purchased by [this dude] at [this location], that this device [still model number and description from manufacturer] was delivered on [delivery confirmation and particulars] and that possession of said equipment may violate section [number.subsection] of the [Act or legislation] of [Juristiction]. This equiptment may have other uses, but the [column type] and volume of the still precludes a practical use for permitted purposes, even if a still with a capacity of [volume size] were legal, which we state since it is over 1 gallon, it is not.

See - I have had 2 drinks of 50% in me and I just justified a search warrant on yer house ... and no, I am not a lawyer dude ...

Come on guys, cut me some slack. I'm tryin to stay positive about this whole deal. Sure I make "vinegar." Call me naïve, I didn't think about the TTB giving their records to the ATF.

That's the problem. It's not that we're being negative, just realistic! The only thing that stands between the ATF checking on people on those lists is whether they want to or not. So saying "don't worry, I'd hate to be so worried all the time" is dumb.

Staying positive ...

OK, that is fine and all, but will you be there blowing "positivity" if someone gets searched because they are on some list ??????

You may not think the TTB is gonna share with the ATF, but until the ATF says that they have absolutely no use for the info, then these are just yer feelings, and as such, are irrelevant. You may "feel" this, but the possibility of this happening is far greater than your "feeling"

Don't worry, I am still sure you will get some more stills out to unsuspecting buyers as the days go on...

goose...I have to say....something struck me odd about your last post. And then I realized what it was. It's the first time I've ever seen you edit a post. Usually, whatever rolls off your tongue..is what it is :)

I make beer/wine and my wife puts up jars. Haven't tried vinegar yet...but way I understood it...you take your bad wine and leave it out for air to get to it.

I reluctantly canceled my order! Now watch, I'll be the example and get busted for the other crap in the garage! Reading the application for permit, I'm a bit confused. I have a garage, not attached to my house, locked, and entirely fenced in. Would this be an acceptable building location if I wanted to apply? Thanks again!

HBS said they had to turn over around 3000 names with serial numbers. They have been making some serious jack on stills alone. I can see why they are saying that people have nothing to worry about. Don't stress out about this be cool be happy  egg

Boy if that statement isn't the truth. I really liked how he was telling everyone they had nothing to worry about because the still column isn't illegal to have. Of course being the upstanding guy that he is, he conveniently forgot to tell his customers that because of the 26 gallon boiler that they bought with that legal column makes it illegal as hell whether you are using it or not. Even though I have been here a few months reading and learning. The main thing I have seen with all of the regular destillers here is they are like family. Of course being like family comes with disagreements here and there. No big deal. I guess that is why a lot of people on this forum have bad feelings for HBS. He stoled from OD so in a since he stole from the rest of the family here at HD. Even though I haven't earned the right to be part of the family here yet, I have no use for a thief. I just read the second email he sent out to his customers and once again he is saying that it is perfectly legal to own a complete still to make other things besides alcohol. Then he goes on talking about the availability of 26 gallon milk can boilers. You can't tell me that he doesn't know the law about boiler sizes.

Why is he not on HD? He was thrown off because after he screwed me out of a lousy stupid $40 he lied to management. I didn’t really care about the money but when he questioned my integrity by accusing me of lying I went to management with proof. I dont take kindly to having my honor questioned.

He further proved that money is more important than his word after admitting to them he owed me, he lied to them saying he would pay me than again lying saying he payed when he didnt.

So Do you trust him not to throw you under the bus? Trust me, It will be alright. Yuk yuk. Sure Mike. We trust you. Did you buy Old Dog a drink before you fucked him?
