I read somewhere that it's called a parrot cos it resembles a "bird with a long neck". Beats me, but I can't work out star signs either.

Very nice Bayou-R. I see an extra feather on the tail instead of a lil funnell?
These parrots have a body, a beak, a tail, and they talk.

Couldn't agree more, these guys aren't very honest to put it as nicely as possible, I do have one of their stills though and it is pretty good but all the extras that were supposed to come with it are garbage and some of it I never got, live and learn, wish I would have found this site before I bought a strill. Besides this was the second still that I ordered from them, not knowing it was the same outfit, the first one never came and it took about six months for my credit card company to get my money back. Beware of the many different names they do business under.

Corndog, lucky you. If you are waiting for a ferminter barrel, I'd go down to the brew shop and just get a few 8 gallon plastic (food grade plastic) bucket ferminters. The lids are removable for easy cleaning and are much easier to work with than a large barrel. Good Luck.

I new on this site, just signed the welcome center page yesterday. After reading over this string, I felt I needed to add a few more names. I almost feel into the stilldrinkin trap and luckily decided to buy from another site. Funny thing was the site I bought from was one of the ex partners at stilldrinkin. I have had the same troubles as everyone else had at stilldrinkin, except it is through a new site. Paul actually owns three site that I have been able to find. They are
turbostomper.com
turbostompermoonshinestills.com
stillplans.net
Please beaware of this crook, they do not deliver on time, the packages do not come complete and they do not ever return phone calls.
They are also selling on Ebay under the seller name of still-builder.
Please becareful with this company.

Yes, YukonJack, you fell for one of the many duplicate company names these crooks have gone by for years... Personally, I can't figure out how folks fall for these guys based on the piss poor spelling ad descriptions they publish... But, then again, when you don't know any better I guess they get you hook, line, and sinker... If they didn't prey on the flaws of human nature they'd probably already be out of business... Not slighting you, merely stating the facts... Humans are strange yet predictable creatures...
Sorry you got taken advantage of, YukonJack...

What they are doing is fraud, plain and simple. I should run this by an attorney friend and see what can be done to shut them down for good.

Uncle Jesse, I wish I would have found the site prior to my purchase, but things happen. I am now getting the proper education for all of you on here and will soon be headed in the right direction. I feel lucky that I at least received some of my package!! I have a decent keg burner and improve on that. I have received helpful and important advice concerning the actual safety of the thumpers on my machine and am working to fix them. Thanks for setting this wonderful forum up and thank to all of the experience people out there willing to help us newbies. If you here something from your lawyer friend, please let me know.

To the moderators, I think it might be time to update the thread title to include the new companies that Paul has started. I listed 3 others that were not in the title. I can repost if necessary, please let me know. Today as I was doing some additional research on this POS, I tried to order a rig off of turbostomper.com to see where it would take me (After being scammed by this guy and then reading this whole thread, I thought he had probably changed websites again, especially since he had change ebay member names) The order screen redirected me to his new site. It is slightly redesigned and cleaned up, but it is still him. It is

in the uk there is a scam called cornering it entails selling stolen gear that doesent exist . they use all methods to draw the money and disapear with it , the conned punter cant report it because the gear they were buying was stolen. are these scammers hiding behind the fact that distilling is illegal in most places, and the fact that a lot of ripped off punters dont complain to loudly.

Take your lemons and make moonshine lemonade,!!! that 's what I did. It took months to get my so called still and junk. I took what was there and remade it into something I could use. And am enjoying the results mixed with Coca Cola tonight. I was so worried that I used a lead test on all the joints he half assed soldered. Tested negative for lead thank god. I then unsoldered half the joints and re-did them. I then took out all the rubber or cork gaskets he slopped in. I found some copper disks on ebay that I made the same diameter as the mason jar(thumper) lid. I drilled the tube holes and soldered them on in place of the metal lid. kept the stock spin on ring, and, then replaced the junk stainless pot with a 8 gallon pasturizer/canner made by WECK, which is all self contained electric burner unit. I now have a great setup that makes great likker. Take your bad eperience and make it a good one. He has some good information that he stole off the web, that makes for good readin, but after finding this place, all you need is here. These are a great bunch of guys that are more than willing to help you make good stuff. You don't have to have a super still to make good likker, just knowledge and practice.

Well, I did not lose money (yet) as the still was a gift and it arrived on time and whole. My concern is that it could prove unsafe, but can be made safer. I've the mini-venom, if some one could point me in the direction of information on how to "fix" the still?
As for getting these guys, kind of hard as they are selling a product that is illegal to have and or use in most situations and to complain may require admission to use. Kind of like being in a non-medical marijuana state ordering with an Rx from a questionable sight and then wanting legal action when you get poor quality grass.

Go to the hardware store and get a lead test kit. If you are happy with how the still looks and want to use it, test it first and that'll give you piece of mind on the lead. Test the pot with a magnet and see if it's stainless. Stainless will not attract a magnet. If the outside of the column is as gummy and slimy as mine was from flux, you can bet the inside is too. You want to clean it out somehow and heat it up to run a batch of distilled water through it, or some alchohol to clean the inside out. Get rid of his cork or rubber components and replace with bisquit dough or the like. That supposed copper coated lid column mounting flange will rust immediately on the threads. Get rid of that and tig weld a stainless coupler on top with that size threads. that'll elemintate that gasket. You should of got a password to his supposed moonshine step by step program. There is a lot of good reading on there that he's gathered off the net. His recipes are pretty decent and list the amounts of ingredience needed, and if you can decipher through all the bad grammer and spelling, you can make a decent run with the information he provides. But like I mentioned earlier, everything you need is on this site and these people are trustworthy.

Ok, and do what with the copper tube openings.
Btw - did lead test, negative of course. FYI for all, lead dodder is illegal in us and can't be sold in CA.

Here is a shot of my original still. I unsoldered the thumper mechanism and just ran a straight pipe. This 3/4" rig is currently used by a member down in S. Fla. and he wouldn't trade it for anything. I made a lot of good liquor with that little rig.
I've upgraded on the same design and now use a 2" on a keg.
Here is a shot of the same still set up as a stove-top. This bottom pick is the setup I was using when I forgot the strip of plumber's tape on the lid. Had the buring ring of fire right there on the stove top. A big O-S*** moment.

he's in Colorado not California, and who knows where he gets his bulk solder from.Better safe than dead or mentally ill. If you want to remove the thumper, just unsolder the tubes on the column that contain it, and solder in a solid length, eliminating it and the open ended tubes. I chose to leave mine in, and refine it. Certainly doesnt hurt anything. The stuff left in there smells like rotten eggs, so it's removing something nasty.

I can still walk into any hardware store and find lead based solder right next to the lead free solder... Half of the plumbing solder here still consists of a small percentage of lead... And half of the solder doesn't even list what it consists of... I won't buy solder from Tractor Supply for that very reason...
Do what WalkingWolf described for eliminating the thumper...

After reading most of this thread, i cant believe a few blokes havent giving the bloke a visit and given his head a bit of panel beating.
Hope (but i know someone will) no one else gets nailed by these clowns.
Good to see some are making useful stills out of their bad luck. I also think its a testament that the usual suspects are all here, helping to fix up the mess these dickheads have made and getting good people the results they should of got straight away after shelling out their hard earned dollars.

eviljesus, I have to agree that it is surprising that at least one unhappy customer hasn't paid a personal visit to mete out justice with a beat-down... Sometimes even the most frowned upon methods yield the best and most expedient results...

i've just noticed the turbostomper.com fathers day special includes a free copy of the compleat distiller with every purchase. my guess is that he aint buying from the amphora society and giving them out for free. probably a pdf copy.
there's a potential law suit ready and waiting.
