Got mine tonight. Just wanted to publicly thanks KS. So THANK YOU. Great job, looks great. Her name is Aliena. And i cant wait to light her fire!

P.S. shes the black sheep of the KS flute family. (Bubble caps )

Anyone looking, KS does a great job. You wont be disappointed if all his builds turn out like this one.

The bubble cap thang is a non issue within the scope of the big picture..........way I see it.

Its up to the individual to figger the big picture.

oh by no mean am i casting doubts,just the fact i enjoy being a blacksheep. Thats what my family considers me so i try to live up to that! No worries ill love Aliena, she might even get to kick the wife out of bed tonight! LOL

I got my new boiler yesterday from Mile Hi... Perfect for the Flute... It has a really nice ball valve on the bottom with a union type ferrrule. I think it would work for adding a electric element. She is pretty sweet.. I think the boiler was made for the flute.

are they selling the boilers separate? they are awesome!

How heavy a guage on that boiler? You think it's heavy enough to install an element (and it'll hold up for the long haul)?

It needs a filler neck. Nice to have a drain but also to a place to fill it without removing the flute. That is one bad ass boiler!

KS, glad you didn't show that sooner. Would love to have a 26 gallon boiler, wished we could find full barrel kegs!

Hey kenfyoozed, have you run your new Flute yet? we are waiting for a report on your first flute run.

i agree. i have an extra 2" tri-clamp top fill port, and i really dig mine. use it every time i set up.

That sure does look purdy KS. I've been thinkin of putting a filler neck on mine since I have height issues with it. Kinda seems like I have to lift the roof a little to get it all together.

No Sir, not yet. Making the switch to electric as well. Got a controller for now that should work and my boiler is coming home tonight. Hopefully i will be able to finish the boiler build and wire it all up and get a report to you guys this weekend.

Got to tell ya though, she looks great, placed her in the dining room, can be seen from most areas of the house. Cant stop starring!

I agree with OD.. That is pretty close. You could run your take off more to the side I guess and add a parrot there.

After my wife read my post back to me, i realize I wasn't clear: I meant the use of 3" pipe instead of 4" pipe to construct the still, the other dimensions of the flute being the same. also, Rad mentioned the use of fine steel mesh might be possible for the plates, i have this too. 125 micron stainless. your thought on this before i make copper plates? I have already fabricated the delphlegmator and the Graham condenser today. i'll post pix when i get another elbow. thanks



I need help weaning my wife off Evan Williams and my Boka-Rad 2.0 and Rad's fabulous all bran recipe is not making it although everyone else is happy.

A 3"column will be fine, the takeoff might be a touch slower though, I would leave the mesh alone, and use either perforated, valve, or bubblecap plates. Your choice

I am in the process of building a 3" with no sight glasses right now also. I am going to use a simple libieg for the condenser. yes please through up some pics when you can.

OD, i recently read a post and saw a column built by DECOY in glass using SS plates with radial slots in operation. looked pretty good. what do you and KS think about that setup over the bubble, holes, or valves you are currently using?

I would have to study it more before I could really comment on that. I dont know much about it.

after further drinkin' and reading i see that OD used slotted plates, conically shaped, in a build. seems to me that the need to seal the plate is unsubstantiated. I like the conical shape directing the reflux towards the center= genius. I'm leaning towards the easy to build, slotted, conical plates now. waiting on ups for a 3" el and my wife is waiting on a 7" so i gotto go.
BTW, i've got those titanium plates for aging shitty swill, if i could ever keep enough to age, i'll try it.

were do u sorce all these products im looking for a good size copper pipe for this and cant find anything over 3 inch
