1st, 2nd and 3rd gen ujssm. Last sample of each jug was headsy as hell. Dumped all three in my 5 gallon milker bucket with a loose lid a week ago and set it behind the cookstove. It is slowly getting better. Its no longer tongue burning shit. Not my worse but far from my best.

ATM I'm enjoying a Ginger Irish, which is my first irish-style malt whiskey (2 parts barley, 1.5 part light Munich malt, 0.5 part chocolate malt) and Kinley ginger ale, 1:2 ratio. Half handful of ice in the highball glass, a thin slice of lime.
Every sip reminds me that I gotta buy a few kilo of malt pretty soon. :)

(edit: I can feel it steals my soul  )

Dawning some 16 year old Bushmills Irish Whiskey with a friend. Aged on bourbon, sherry and port barrels ... Pretty good.

I am sipping on a double aged bourbon. After aging in a new chard oak barrel it was aged in a used sherry barrel. My review is as follows.

I like it.

I'm sipping on some nice apple brandy.

I've only got a few runs under my belt, so everything is a bit of a surprise. One of my runs was just apple juice, yeast and a couple vitamin tablets. (Bakers yeast, because my Safale05 wouldn't start.) Anyhoo, the ferment went well, and I ran it twice through my still (no reflux, pot still mode). I wasn't too pleased with the result. I tried to make careful cuts, but it wasn't very tasty. So it turns out the HD folks know a thing or two. I've had it on oak for about 3 weeks, and would you believe things are changing. The flavors have developed and most of the sharp odor and bite have faded. I'm hoping to give it another month or two, but wow, this stuff is pretty good. While I thought it was a bust, I think I'm going back to the store for more juice!

I finally quit drinking for good.

Right now I am sipping Glen Moray single malt mixed with an allgrain bourban that was slightly over oaked. A 2 parts scotch to 1 part bourban is so tasty, I might not make it to my deer stand in the morning. Now for me, that's saying something about the flavor.. I don't miss peak rut in the stand often..

Tonight was about genever (Dutch Gin). Had guests over from Utah. We tried Bols Corenwijn, Bols Oude Genever, and Bols Jonge Genever. Right now I am sipping some of my own Rye Korenwijn. Sorry Bols, I think mine is best!

I am drinking a home brewed, session style beer, while brewing 40 gallons of sugarhead on top of an all grain batch. While brewing 7 gallons of blackberry cider, while distilling 30 gallons of all grain corn/barley, just after I distilled a finished 5 gallons of birdwatchers at 175 proof.... Holy hell, busy weekend. Life is good!
There is no such thing as a stupid question....... Unless you didn't research it first.

UJ variant with a LB of malt 2 row. aired for a week and growing old on medium toast french oak for almost another two whole weeks now. I love the ...dare i say it...improvement....over straight sugarhead corn. really improves mouthfeel and smoothness.
I finally quit drinking for good.

Oh.
2 parts bourbon
1/2 part sweet vermouth
1/2 part orange liquor
dabble dee dew drop of grapefruit bitters
blast of old school soda water to top and mix up in a rocks glass.
Garnish with a cherry.

Kind of a fake old fashion.

Flipped on the Hawks game and poured a glass of my smokey 'Bonfire'. Happy to report it beat out Corsair Triple Smoke in a blind tasting with 30 folks, incl by a certified whiskey judge. Proud papa :) Windys rum beat other spiced rums and my 5 Grain went over very well too. We faired well. Bonfire is corn oats barley peated malt and cherry smoked malt.

Just finished the lawns. Sipping on some 1.5 UJ run through last night. Not bad. Could do with some oak and age. But still better then store bought.
