May it seems odd but it true. I don't have any favorite song and I can't save lyrics of any song in my mind. so I just open my lap and search for new songs and start to hear.

Listen to that song. It's beautiful, just the sound of it. I used to be able to sing along, completely unknowing what it was about. He did an English version, too, which I've just found.

Back in the 90s, I used to buy a lot of second-hand CDs, and found, quite by accident, that I liked Europop. At least, that's what my critical friends called it. One singer I found whose voice penetrates to the vitals, is Milva. I've never met anyone who has heard of her. Like many European singers, she sings in four or five languages. I prefer hearing songs in languages I don't understand, so the voice is more like a musical instrument producing complex sonorities, rather than lanquage meaning. In the end, I found that Milva singing in German is my favourite. It took a lot of searching, and eventually I found this medley:

Maritimer,
i know what your saying regarding the language thing, there are many songs i have, that i know not a single meaning.
it is the power of the music its self that carries it and it transcends the language barrier to universal level that taps into a primal vein of our emotion that speaks louder than any amplifier.

I have them in MP3 but i was looking on youtube didnt see any example... i will keep digging
I dug and dug and looky here what I found!
being a child of the 60s and 70s i have always like the Sitar sound and of course the beattles had some of the india influence in some of their music... this is called Aaro the group is Swayd here is a linkl to page you have to click the play button... this particular tune is haunting and just pulled me in like a whirlpool to a drowning as i became totally immersed in it. it was on a various artist MP3 album i got off of amazon. 90% of the album is incredible...
check it out:
https://soundcloud.com/indianelectronica/aaro-swayd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
and of course the latin side, i watched Los Lobos play on Austin City Limits back in the 1980s they did a tribute album to some of the folk music of Mexico.... i have always loved this album i dont speak spanish i kow i can get the translation if i looked but it is great to listen to when sipping Tequila:

Rastus,
Strange how language comprehension interferes with musical immersion. I fell into the indianelectronica easily, but the Los Lobos couldn't do it because, although I don't speak Spanish, I do speak French, so the words are too close to comprehensible to just be sound. Plus I had a Spanish speaking boss for ten years. Nevertheless, I have no idea what the Los Lobos is song is about--except for the always present corazón.
That soundcloud.com site looks very interesting. I shall explore it. Thanks.

Maritimer,
in that one, estoy sentado aqui, actually i think it is a song of broken heart and self pity and i know he is drinking tequila, which i thought was apropriate for this forum
... i had been around Spanish speaking folks quite a bit in the early 80s.
In some of the classical i listen too especially J.S. Bach, some of the vocal is in German but the way they do their vocal gymnastics is amazing and like you say instrumental like. i am usually not fond of the operatic style but certain classical vocals of Bach in the Baroque style are somewhat captivating.
as for me I am English speaker only but, i have some comprehension of a little Spanish and i have been exposed to a lot of Eskimo language, and also in the last 10 years or so a lot of Filipino, hence why i commented regarding the song you had posted from YouTube, by Freddie Aguilar cause he is Filipino, and i have heard that song and like it actually when there is a potluck and they start singing Karaoke it always comes up. i can pick out select words but it is all spoken so quickly that i cant follow well ....
regards

Freddie Aguilar has a restaurant in Malate. His daughter Maegan manages it (she is a good singer, too). Sounds like some of you may know a bit of Philippine culture. Sound off if so!

Blues is like the grand father of rock and roll, Players like BB King, Muddy Waters even Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Blue Grass is like hill billy folk music, with Banjos and guitars Etc... Hard to describe.

Odin,
here is an example of bluegrass, lead singer is Bill Monroe who is called the "father" of Bluegrass music. you can get a good feel for the style, Most is up-tempo and of course there are many styles of bluegrass within the Genre:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnI3b9aHV9Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
as for Blues there of course is a wide variation in the style, but i will give an example which is hard to choose only one but you can get a feeling from it I choose Stevie Ray Vaughan, tune Flooding down in Texas:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWLw7nozO_U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
and then since my first instrument was a harmonica i will add Mr. James Cotton and his Blues Band, Enjoy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBeuco0PgJs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
in a nut shell you can see though the difference

Excellent selections Rastus. i was sittin here debating what samples to use to show Odin and ya beat me to it
That early blues really fueled Rock and Roll too. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin and so many others were all about the blues influence.
cheers.

Indeed its tough to choose with so many possiblilities then i just said " Awww shucks" and went with it...
the Stones have done some good stuff over the years, i remember the let it bleed album they did a old timey version of honky tonk woman, called "country honk" ... it was a sound i wanted more of, then, 5 or 6 years later the Nitty Gritty Dirt band came out with the 2 lp set called "will the circle be unbroken" , they took old timers and sang with them it was great stuff.
i just cant help adding one more Taj Mahal's fishin blues:

Hey Odin, two songs. The first is the original country blues version by Blind Willie McTell and the second version is the modern rock blues version by the Allman Brothers' Band.

I would post a sample but all the talk of blues and bluegrass makes me afraid to be honest, but what the hell it's about sharing. I have been a part time dj for years and still have a braw to techno music something about they wA the dj mixes the sound together to tell a story ( if you dig it that is) so here it is. Btw poke all the fun you want I have heard the teasing for years.
