"when... you overhear someone say -anything- bad about ;shine or 'shiners, and you jump-in with hard facts about how it isn't so."

Barney! I was going to post the EXACT same thing but thought two per post was enough.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

yeah, i understand.
i belong to a beer club because i buy some things from the homebrew store. if i go to a meeting from time to time, i get a 10% discount on anything i buy there.
they are beer snobs and it is a little difficult to listen to their opinions sometimes.
i never say... but always think... "you can spit that shit out in the parking lot and try some of my shine and you will stop drinking that swill that you think is so good only because you made it".
but you know me, i'm just too polite.

gawd, maybe i am like that too. every batch of likker i make just seems to get better and better. and i was very proud of the first few liters that i ever made and i will never forget the excitement of seeing the first few drops coming from my first still. maybe that is why this forum is so popular. where else can we brag a little about the results of our efforts? and share stories of our successes and failures or ask for help?

of course, i wonder sometimes how many members of the beer club also have a still :D

Its been doing so long I don't know what my first was like. sense Iv mostly improved in efficiency
never cared for beer until recently and started making my own. did not like that "pee" they call beer
I found that I like the "heavy" beers like old ale, wee heavy. high in malt flavor and light it hops.
(Haven't tryed to make others yet)

yes Dnderhead, i also like a beer on occasion. Mrs Fester likes one sometimes too. i've really been wanting to try my hand at making beer again. the last time was when Carter was president. my homemade beer was great but i never graduated from using a can of malt syrup stuff to make it. i guess i will become one of those beer snobs now. crap.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO VOTE. Voice your opinion. What is your favorite? (my personal favorite so far is Dnderhead's #88 "You make a deal with the hogs ,, that they can have all the SLOPS they want if you git to use the grain first ", but don't let my opinion sway you. Only wish I had some hogs to help get rid of all this spent corn :) ).

AMEN FESTER! The only thing beer is good for is stillin! The first drops comin out of my still were foreshots but that headache never felt so good! :D Oh, and I think that is what some of this forum is about... alittle anonomous braggin', although i still maintain the fact of " we aint doin' nothin' wrong, just makin' a little fuel for me mule....gas for me ass!"

no problem, MuleKicker, Fester will help you. Just bring him 24 gallons of mash/wash then disappear. Problem solved! Now you know who your true friends are :D :D

You take the dogs for a walk at an old 19th century gold mining area - now used as an illegal dump - and come home with a spare propane cylinder, a wheel rim for a more efficient boiler base and a handy length of 5/8 diameter copper pipe. What a great find. :)

blanik
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)
The Reading Lounge AND the Rules We Live By should be compulsory reading

Cumudgeon and loving it.

omg, Blanik,
you could be on to something there.
we teach dogs to locate many things... bombs, drugs, dead people... stuff like that.
we could teach them something really important and useful - locating copper still parts in a dump.
brilliant! :D :D
