Well, of course HBS has isn't worried because the money is already in the bank, from sales... But for them to say that their customers have nothing to worry about is a crock...!!! They just want repeat sales and references, and will continue to sleep well just as long as the money keeps rolling in... It doesn't take a financial analyst or rocket scientist to read between the lines there... And people wonder why I've never made an online purchase of anything related to home distillation, and most likely never will...

I'm with you there rad, several of the still manufacturers were chiming in on that thread and they all said the same thing and it makes me think that none can be trusted, except maybe clawhammer, which is why my signature says what it says.

Clawhammer? Puh,,,,,,
When the time comes, Clawhammer got no choice any more than any other vendor does.

If they actually sell stills, yes. that's why what they sell is copper sheets and pieces of pipe. Of course the requirements could change at any moment and they could start be required to report as well.

"Aiding and abetting is a legal doctrine related to the guilt of someone who aids or abets in the commission of a crime. It exists in a number of different countries and generally allows a court to pronounce someone guilty for aiding and abetting in a crime even if they are not the principal offender."

That's a real stretch there.

The only onus for the manufacturer would be if they were required, by law, not to sell and ship distillation equipment to residents of certain States. ...and I don't think any such regulation exists.

In my mind, aiding and abetting does not apply.

Couple that with what is called " willful negligence".

My first mistake was that I purchased a still online (HBS). I only intended to use it for display purposes in the man cave.

My second mistake was that I lied to the great folks on this forum. I became a member and wanted to fit in, so I lied.....telling forum members about my first run which never really happened. You see, I'm a fraud and have never really used my equipment. Sorry to mislead you all......I'm such a jerk.

I suppose my third mistake will be....that I took an angle grinder to my tower and dropped all the pieces in a dumpster. I received one of those letters, on June 28th, and I figured I didn't want to get caught up in all the legal issues, so my tower is gone forever.

I "still" want to help legalize hobby distilling and hope I'm not barred from these forums for telling LIES about my first run that never happened.

Right TP......I should request a moderator delete that posting since the story of "my first run" was all a lie. It feels better telling the truth.

Now that my tower is destroyed and in a trash pile somewhere, I'll just keep the boiler and such for brewing great beer and wine.

It was a very detailed lie, to say the least.

Considering the comments, maybe I shouldn't have edited my early assessment of the situation. :eh:
