Hi all

Here's my pot still.
Thanks to all for answering my Q's and giving me good ideas.
I think this was Punkins still plan... Thanks mate.

The liebig is about 35" long. It's 3/4" copper inside a 1" jacket.

I'll first do a vinegar wash, followed by a not so good batch of homebrew. Then I'll get in to the rums, the USJM's and the rice/potato vodkas. (I like my Vodka to taste like stuff).

I could have but more elbow grease in to the polishing of it... but I'd rather spend the time brewing/distilling.

Give it a coat of copper laquer, it will help retain the shine and prevent stains .

Am doing the vinegar cleaning run now.
The garage smells like an English pub.

Anyone who tracks me down will be forced to drink my homebrew.
I doubt they'd ever be keen to visit again....

If shinieness did actually contribute to quality, then we would all be chrome palting out stills...still. Its very pretty.
What did you use to polish it?

Probably deserved that SB, but if his hooch is cut as clean as the shininess on his copper then he'll have a nice beverage.
Personally. I polished with 20%amonia and 80% - 60% abv hooch once for photos. Now, the still is ageing nicely - as I am...lol

Probably you have a lot of dairy cows in Holland? Clamps like this are used in milking machines so you could get them from a place that installs or services the milking machines, or a place that supplies the fittings for the machines.

None taken SB...
I don't want to sit and polish copper, takes me away from stillin...

"he said as he poured another".

S.

EDIT: SB, they used to sell a product here in Scotland called 'Brasso', a mix of methylated spirit and amonia. Cant get it now, health and safety and all that, but my quantities seem to work pretty good... S.

Thanks, but I've dicided to go for a copper boiler, and I can solder a copper joint. So no tri-clamp needed (the first couple of years  )
