I am lookin into building a 7.5 gallon 1500 watt boiler for spirit runs, and was looking at types of insulation. I dont like the idea of cell bubble wrap insulation or foam. I got to thinking about a place I used to work that had a vacume molding shop for van conversion. We made molds in house, using a powdered ceramic mixed with fiberglass resin. Holds heat very very well, and can withstand extremly high temps. So I got to looking around, and found several types of liguid ceramic insulation with spray applications. I am thinking that with several layers of ceramic insulation, then wrapped with fiberglass matting and fiberglass resin, then rolled in normal fiberglass production with several layers of this, should insulate a keg enough that you couldnt feel much heat if any on the outside of the keg, thus cutting down on heatup times and allowing a more controlled temp during spirit run, using less power.. Any thoughts out there? Anyone tried this yet?
