Ridiculous Canada gas prices/Converting a motorcycle

Post by rectifier »

Well, gas here in BC has just hit $1.04/L (a jump from $0.88 yesterday, as usual). The news guys said they expect it to hit $1.30/L by the end of the summer.

I'm rather mad. And starting to look seriously at distilling my own fuel as I read I can make it for a $1-2 a gallon. And it gives me a good excuse to build a continuous-run column and also save the earth, etc, etc.

The only thing that makes sense to me to run on ethanol or any other fuel in short supply, is my light bike with its little 4 gal tank (Ninja 250). So I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen anything about converting bikes to ethanol, whether it's just a re-jet or if I have to change the compression ratio... bikes like higher octane fuel, so maybe ethanol would be better for them anyways, after a re-jet?

Also has anyone seen good plans for a cheap continuous fuel column.
