External Link Rule
Always give preference to using internal links to distilling information already available on the HomeDistiller site (at either the forum, the home site, or the HD Wiki), instead of externally linking to the same basic information on another forum or site.
External links are acceptable if the information they contain adds significantly to the discussion, and that information is also not directly available on this forum.
Use the Search Tools to check the HomeDistiller site for the information, before you add an external link.
The main reason for this rule is to make the forum as self-contained as possible, so that the information and discussions on it do not rely on the existence of other sites any more than is necessary.
Please use external links sparingly and wisely. Excessive or inappropriate use of external links is not acceptable, and repeat offenders could be banned.(Obviously this rule has limited relevance to the Off-Topic section of the forum, so don't feel as constrained in there.)
