Air Condenser

I have a question.

I am considering my whole rig to be 4 1/2 feet tall, and about 1 1/2 feet wide. I was going to make the coil 4" wide and 4' feet long. Is there a way I can condense the vapor without using a water source?

Cooling is an energy function....it depends on the amount of energy you input to the liquid in the boiler....not the size of the boiler.

hi guest;
Do a search on google for"finned tubing"
On the yahoo distillers forum do a search for air cooling.
Riku (rkr) has done a lot of work on this an no doubt will fill you in.

take care

Convector pipes are very usefull in this application. Alternatively you can make a copper spiral, insert it into a 120mm (or larger) pipe and have a fan blowing through the pipe. Sizing depends on your heating power and you didn't give any information about that. As an example I have 1kW automated reflux still that's using ambient air-cooling.

I have decided to go against the air condensor.

I have decided to wrap a 1/4" coil that is 20' long around a 2' 3/4" piping.

I am going to have it pump water and have it return water to a 5 gallon jug with water/ice mixture. I am thinking a simple 65 GPH should work fine.
Should this work?

My objective is to make other things than just neutral spirits...which is why I choose a pot still.

or why not just make a simple liebig condensor, get an old plastic trash bin and hook up a garden pond submersible fountain pump. This is my setup, i even used hoselock connectors of the T pieces on the liebig for ease of connections n breaking it all down after.
