First Ever Attempt at a Reflux Still (WIP)

Post by Samohon »

Here it is. My first attempt at designing a Reflux Still I am going to build. Have a look:

A Couple of decisions have been made:

1 Will build Reflux as VM ( I think its the way to go )
2 Will build in copper, no experience with SS (I like Golden Shiny Things 8) )
3 Will use my old 20L Pot Still pot as the volume is enough for my needs ( I dont mind firing the still up once in a while )
4 Will convert the Flange to fit my 30mm upright on pot (what do you think about this?)

The Idea is to have a column that is not too tall. This one will be approx 1Mtr to 1.2 Mtr. It enables me to put my still on our cooker.
I am looking for the experts to improve the design somewhat (Maybe shoot it down in flames if you need too)
With a pot still you just throw in the mash, fire it up, remove the heads and collect the honey.
Reflux stills are a bit more in-depth and I am still getting my head round it. Anyway Vapour Management is the way to go..

Thanks in advance guys...
