hey guys , just have a few questions about re-distilling.
i start off with a simple sugar wash. 3lbs sugar, 1 gallon water, and turbo yeast. ( yes i know turboyeast isnt the best choice but its quick for me ). i make my mash let it ferment for 5 days, but in a clearing agent, and distill on the 7th day. i start distilling, i throw the first 2 shots out ( normal shot glasses ) b/c of the chance of methanol. then collect the rest letting it run through activated carbon filter ( i hear you need to use this with turbo yeast ).
i keep distilling my mash untill theres almost nothing left in the distiller. after i collect all my "cuts". i throw it backin the distiller and distill again. i keep re-distilling untill i get the alcohol proofing i want. my questions is
after i collect all my cuts and start re-distilling it - 1. do i need to use the activated carbon filter?
2. should i still throw away the first two shots b/c the chance of methanol if any?
thanks in advance
steve
