Cheap insulation material that works well and costs little

Post by gbdsl0 »

I have found an excellent material for insulating your keg/boiler (Electric hook-up only). It works well and is significantly cheaper than buying reflective or airspace insulation from the hardware.

The secret material is sourced from a 10mm foam camping matress. These can be purchased from K-mart or similar for around $15.00 AU. Cut it to size, then wrap it around you boiler and secure with with Gaffa (material) tape. A large roll will completely cover you keg and will cost around $7.95 AU.

The foam is heat resistant to temperatures over 100 degrees celsius and is a low fire risk.

It work extremely well, looks neat and costs next to nothing.

Just thought I would share this with other novice builders looking to save a buck.
