How long do your gerber washes usually take to ferment out? I started one which was 5kg sugar, 1 box gerber cereal (roughly 2 cups or maybe a bit more, probably should have been more like 4 cups, but it's all I had), and 10tbsp fleischmann's bakers yeast. Forgot to measure gravity when I pitched but 12 hours after pitching SG was about 1.102. My note taking is absolutely terrible but I think it's been about 6-7 days, and I measured the gravity as 1.060 about two days ago. It's now around 1.050. Does this seem like it's taking forever?
My house is cold, about 14-15 degrees on average (we're too cheap to turn on the heat this early), so I'm thinking this may have something to do with it. I don't have a closet I can put it in with a space heater either. Would one of those electric heating pads under a jacket wrapped around the carboy speed things up a bit? Am I just impatient?
