hot water heating tanks?????

I was looking at some info here today, and was wondering if anyone here has any info on converting a hot weater heater into a boiler vessel. I was thinking about this before, and have since seen references to it, so Im starting to think this may be an idea worth investigating.

Was talking to a guy at mile hi today while placing an order and noticed that there were connection pieces to run a 2" column attatched to these. when asked about it, the guy said that he had heard of guys hooking up multiple towers to one heater to deal with the steam...... any help or a gentle push in the right direction of my reserach would be greatly appreciated...
