Hi guys.Greetings from Port St Lucie. Ive been lurking around for months absorbing all I could. You all are a hoot.
I tried distilling some wines I made and some given to me. None were worth drinkin. The result from my pot still was ummm kinda ok flavor isnt too good. Let me tell you the good part.
I went lokin for gerber and found farina instead. Pretty healthy stuff. wheat, vitamins ok tried it. half a 14 oz box with some cane sugar that comes in round cakes with white sugar and a dab of molases for kicks. out of a 4 and a half gallon wash I got three 750ml wine bottles of smooth spirit (blue flame deadly) and more than another bottle of whiskey proof afters. coulda got more but this takes hours to do.
any feed back? besides my hi tech language that is.

Seems as though your just up the road a peice.

I 've done similar batches (not with Farina though) and been very happy with the results.

What are you paying for the panella cakes? I was paying $1.18 a while back at publix.
Now it's up to $1.50 (or so).

While not fortified with as many vitamins and minerals as some other cereals, farina should work well once you determine the proper proportion needed for a speedy and efficient ferment... I'd start with 1/2 - 1 cup per gallon and adjust up or down from there... Farina is one of those cereals that swells as it absorbs water, similar to Cream of Wheat or Malt-O-Meal, as I recall... My local cost of $3.69 for 28 oz. is pretty good if it has enough nutrients to do the job...

Rad, I put together a batch with some cornmeal and a pan cooked up and diluted of the farina.
So the farina was pre cooked and the corn noy. My thought was the farina would get used up first and the corn second. of course the sugars too. Im jus hopin the flavors come out nice. Its all being slow pot stilled through a bucket worm.
One of these days I might build a column. btw I saw a sign in okeechobee today for 50lb corn for 6.50. what could i do with that i wondered(?)
