...if you can...in a way i that can understand.
i was talking to someone about this hobby, and answering questions the best i could. i was going on about yeast and sugar. i repeated stuff from the main site and this forum. i'm led to believe something like this;
yeast don't consume sugar as though it's food, they use other nutrients. sugar is the source of oxygen once the oxygen dissolved in the water is gone. then you get alcohol
i was saying this and at the same time thinking it can't really be true, not that it stopped me from saying it.
contrary to the beliefs of some here, yeast will do just fine (more or less) in nothing but refined white sugar and water. considering that, yeast should survive in nothing but aerated water. i'm not postive, but i don't think that's true.
secondly, we know yeast will produce lots of co2 as soon as it's unleashed on a sugar wash. so where does the carbon in co2 come from? must be sugar. sugar must be used from the very beginning. right?
just curious, thanks!
